Commissioning and Testing42 61287802F1-34BRevision B6 Commissioning and TestingThis section provides detailed information on the following:■ Turn-Up■ Depending on the local service provider’s requirements the technician may be required toperform additional tests beyond the installation of the GPON 452/454 on the CustomerPremises Equipment (CPE) wiring and/or equipment. If this is the case, a GPON powermeter may be used to test the upstream and downstream signal types for voice, data andvideo.■ “Secure the Unit” on page 43■ “Test for POTS Line Faults” on page 43■ “Provision Ethernet Interface at OLT” on page 436.1 Turn-upInitial turn-up of the GPON 452/454 involves applying power and observing LEDs for statusinformation. To turn-up the GPON 452/454, complete the following steps:1. Plug the green UPS connector into the male connector of the UPS.2. Check to ensure the AC, output, and battery LEDs are green and functioning. The UPS isnow ready for normal operation.3. View the LEDs on the GPON 452/454 as they cycle through start-up diagnostics. Aproperly installed ONT cycles through a sequence of operations during startup andpower-up phases. Table 10 on page 42 shows the normal LED status once the startupand power-up sequences are complete (approximately 30 seconds).4. In addition to the front panel LEDs, the GPON 452/454 has LEDs that are integral to theEthernet RJ-45 jack.6.1.1 Front Panel LEDsThe GPON 452/454 provides front panel LEDs to display status information.
