Changes in the line voltagefrom lightning, power outages, etc. can sometimes damage electronicequipment.To minimize the chance of damage to your equipment from suddenchanges in the AC line voltage, you may want to plug your equipmentinto a power source that has surge and spike protection. Power outletstrips are available with built-in surge protection circuits that may helpprotect your equipment.Other options for protection of your equipment include the use of an ACline conditioner or a battery backup system (sometimes referred to as anuninterruptible power supply, or UPS).
