AXIS 5400/AXIS 5600 User’s Guide Basic Installation 7Connecting the printer to the Ethernet NetworkFollow the instructions below to connect a printer to the network via the AXIS5400/AXIS 5600 print server:Caution!1. Make sure that the printer is switched off and that the AXIS 5400/AXIS 5600external power supply is disconnected.2. Locate the serial number, found on the underside label of the AXIS 5400/AXIS5600, and write it down. You will need this number during the networkconfiguration.Note:3. Connect the printer to the LPT1, LPT2, or COM1 port on the AXIS5400/AXIS 5600.Note:4. Connect your AXIS 5400/AXIS 5600 to the network. A category 5 twisted paircable or better must be used for Fast Ethernet networks.5. Switch on the printer and connect the external power supply to the AXIS5400/AXIS 5600. The power indicator light comes on. If the network indicatorstarts to flash, the AXIS 5400/AXIS 5600 is successfully connected to thenetwork.6. Press and release the test button on the AXIS 5400/AXIS 5600 to print a testpage. If the AXIS 5400/AXIS 5600 is correctly connected to the printer, theAXIS 5400/AXIS 5600 internal test page will be printed.Note:The external power supply you are using must be marked with the correct mains voltage!
