Print Server Management Methods66 AXIS 5500 / AXIS 5550 User’s ManualUsing AXIS NetPilot for Print Server ManagementAXIS NetPilot 2.70 and up should be used for AXIS USB print servers.AXIS NetPilot makes management of Network Print Servers simple andconvenient. It runs on Windows platforms that use NetWare orNetBIOS/NetBEUI and lets you• Install Network Print Servers• Modify the network environment• Change the print server configuration• Create printer groups• Monitor printersInstalling AXISNetPilotAXIS NetPilot is available on the AXIS Network Product CD and can also bedownloaded from the Axis Web site. Install it on any Windows client in thenetwork using NetWare or NetBIOS/NetBEUI.Installing a NetworkPrint ServerWhen started, AXIS NetPilot scans the network for Network Print Servers. Allfound will be placed in the folder New AXIS Units. Highlight the one you wantto install and click Install.Print ServerInstallation OptionsSelect one of the two options:• with Installation Wizard. Use this option to install a new print server.When you click the OK button the Installation Wizard will start and youwill be guided through the installation process, step by step.If you choose this option for a print server that has already been installed,the new settings that you enter via the Wizard will replace the existingparameters.• with current configuration. Use this option to make AXIS NetPilot accepta previously installed Network Print Server without changing itsconfiguration parameters. When you click the OK button you will return tothe main window — the selected print server will now appear in theNetwork Print Servers folder.If you select this option for a new print server, the factory default settingswill be used and no print queues will be created. This is unlikely to be asatisfactory installation.Modify the NetworkEnvironmentDouble-click the Axis Units folder and then the Network Print Servers folder inthe main window to reveal the installed print servers. Highlight the print serverthat you wish to modify. Click the Network button in the toolbar or selectNetwork in the Setup menu or the pop-up menu.The Network window has a number of pages with selection tabs dependingupon which environments are available and enabled for the print server youhave selected.
