Upperthread tension setting between 6 and 8 isrecommended for bobbin work.For details on adjusting the upper thread tension,refer to “Setting the Thread Tension” onpage S-12.d Make sure the automatic thread cutting( ) and automatic reinforcementstitching ( ) have been turned off.e Place stabilizer on top (wrong side) of thefabric.f If thread is too thick to pull through fabricto machine surface use an awl to punch asmall hole in the fabric at the beginning ofstitching so the bobbin thread can be fedthrough the opening.g Press .→ The screen changes, and all keys and operationbuttons are locked.CREATING BOBBIN WORKNote• Recommended stitches for bobbin work areopen “airy” type stitches.• Be sure to sew trial stitches using samefabric and threads as project in order tocheck the sewing results.• The bobbin thread may become tangleddue to the type of pattern and thread thatare being used. Since this may cause theneedle to break, immediately stop sewing ifthis occurs. Turn off the machine and cutout the tangled thread with scissors. Then,clean the race and bobbin case asdescribed in “Fabric is caught in themachine and cannot be removed” of“Appendix”.Memo• For best results, select a longer stitch lengthand a wider stitch width. Depending on theselected stitch, it may not be possible tochange the stitch length and stitch widthsettings.• Depending on the fabric, bunched stitchesmay result. We recommend selecting asimple stitch and sewing trial stitches tocheck the sewing results.Examples of simple stitches: , ,Note• Before sewing, check that there is enoughthread on the bobbin.CAUTION• Before sewing, make sure the automatic threadcutting has been turned off.
