2.8 Integrator responsibilitiesThe integrator is the person responsible for installing the sensorPF55S within the higher-level machine. The integrator can be a machine manufacturer, an engineeringoffice, Baumer hhs or the operating company. The integrator is to review and appropriately adapt the followingfeatures and equipment:n Safety featuresn Protection equipmentn Controller interfacesn Connections to the control systemThe sensor PF55S is typically installed within a higher-levelmachine. This installation creates new interfaces, which can leadto additional hazards. The following critical areas can result from this:n The installation environment for the sensor PF55S in thehigher-level machine may differ from the originally intendedinstallation environment.Example: The sensor could be subjected to a strong electro-magnetic field that generates a fault beyond the industrystandard measure.n The operating company’s desired installation position for thesensor PF55S in the higher-level machine could differ from theBaumer assumed installation conditions.Example: The operator may not be able to use the sensorwithout risk because of a conveying element in the higher-levelmachine.n The protective measures intended by Baumer may no longerbe sufficient or may have to be removed a result of the installa-tion conditions.Example: Safety devices may have to be removed to increasethe installation space for the sensor.n Warnings may be concealed by machine parts and thereforenot be legible. This results in the following tasks for the integrator:IntegratorIntegrator tasksSafety and responsibilityIntegrator responsibilities05.03.2020 Flow sensor PF55S 13
