Section 5.21.4 and Section 5.21.5provide instructions for manually configuring the port with an FE-100TXinstalled.5.21.4 Setting the FE-100TX Operational ModeUse this field to set the active technology. This field steps betweenAuto-Negotiation, 10BASE-T, 10BASE-TFD (full duplex),100BASE-TX, and 100BASE-TXFD (full duplex). If Auto-Negotiation isselected, the FE-100TX automatically sets the active technology. Tomanually set the active technology through Local Management, proceedas follows:1. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Desired Oper. Mode field.2. Use the SPACE bar to select the desired mode. Press ENTER. If anymode other than Auto-Negotiation is selected, the port only operatesin the chosen mode and auto-negotiation is disabled.3. Use the arrow keys to highlight the SAVE command. Press ENTER.The message “SAVED OK” displays and Local Management savesthe changes to memory. The selected mode is displayed in both theDesired Operational Mode field and the Current Operational Modefield.5.21.5 Setting the FE-100TX Advertised AbilityIn normal operation, a port (5 or 6) with an FE-100TX auto-negotiates tothe highest speed possible. Under some circumstances, the NetworkAdministrator may want the port to advertise only some of the availablemodes and not operate in other modes. This field steps between10BASE-T, 10BASE-TFD (full duplex), 100BASE-TX, and100BASE-TXFD (full duplex). To set the advertised ability, proceed asfollows:1. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Desired Oper. Mode field.2. Use the SPACE bar to select the desired mode.
