EMM-E6 MIB StructureA-2EMM-E6 MIB StructureMIB ComponentsThe EMM-E6 MIB components are described below. Note, however, that at anygiven time the component list displayed by your EMM-E6 may not include someof the components described below, since the EMM-E6 has the ability to alter thecomponents which make up its MIB in response to changes in the chassis. Forexample, if you are using only two of the EMM-E6’s three internal repeatingchannels, you will see only two Repeater components listed; if, at any time, youadd the third channel, the necessary MIB component will automatically appear inthe chCompTable. Similarly, if you have an unmanageable MIM (such as a TokenRing MIM) installed in your EMM-E6-controlled hub, you will see theNoMgmtMIMs MIB component listed; this component will not appear if theEMM-E6 can manage all of the MIMs installed in your hub. To see which MIBcomponents are currently being used in your EMM-E6, bring up the CommunityNames application, or use any SNMP Get operation that will allow you to viewthe contents of the chCompTable. The EMM-E6 MIB consists of the following components:Chassis MGRThe Chassis MGR MIB component contains most of the basic information aboutthe EMM-E6, the chassis it is controlling, and the other modules installed in thatchassis, including: chassis type, backplane type, number of slots, which moduletypes and names are installed in which slots, the EMM-E6’s MIB componentinformation (in the chCompTable), device and module names, hardware revisionnumbers, MAC and IP addresses, the current time and date, and informationrelated to redundancy, alarms, connected uninterruptable power supplies, andTFTP download. The system, interfaces, at, ip, icmp, udp, and snmp groups fromMIB-II are also included. The community names assigned to this MIB componentprovide the gateway that all SPMA applications use to access all information inthe other components, even if those components have different communitynames; the Chassis MGR community names are the same as those assigned viaLocal Management.LIMThe EMM-E6 LIM, or Local Management, component contains the objects thatprovide out-of-band management via the Console port on the EMM-E6’s frontpanel. No objects from this component are used for remote management;however, you can access the EMM-E6’s Local Management via the SPMA Telnettool, described in the SPMA Tools Guide.
