If you are using SPMA for the EMM-E6 instand-alone mode — that is, without benefit of a specific network managementsystem — instructions for starting each application from the command line areincluded in each chapter of this guide and the SPMA Tools Guide.Also available from the icon menu or the command line is the option whichprovides access to BRIM-related applications and two options which provideaccess to router-related applications: the BRIM option is described in the SPMABRIM Applications User’s Guide; the Basic Router Config, and AdvancedRouter Config, options are described in documentation shipped with your orderof routing applications, which must be purchased separately.ConventionsSPECTRUM Portable Management Applications — including the EMM-E6module — can work with a number of different network management systemsrunning on several different operating systems and graphical user interfaces. Thisversatility presents two documentation problems: first, there is no standardterminology; and second, the appearance of the windows will differ based on theNOTEIf you are using SPMA in a stand-alone mode or in conjunction with the SunNetManager or Solstice Enterprise Manager platforms, the RMON option will be availablefor all appropriate devices whether or not you have purchased the RMON applicationmodule. If you are using SPMA in conjunction with HP Network Node Manager or IBMNetView, however, the RMON option will only appear when the module has beenpurchased and installed.NOTEGraphing capabilities are provided by an application that is included in HP NetworkNode Manager and IBM NetView; therefore, graphs are only available when SPMA isrun in conjunction with one of these network management platforms. If you are runningSPMA in a stand-alone mode or in conjunction with SunNet Manager or SolsticeEnterprise Manager, no graphing capabilities are available and no graph-related optionswill be displayed on buttons or menus. Note that the screens displayed in this guide willinclude the graph-related options where they are available; please disregard thesereferences if they do not apply.NOTEPlease note that the routing functionality for your EMM-E6, as well as the SPMAmanagement modules that allow you to configure and manage that functionality, must bepurchased separately.
