Owner Checks and Services on page 7-10 tells whatshould be checked, when to check it, and what can easilybe done to help keep the vehicle in good condition.The proper replacement parts, fluids, and lubricants touse are listed in Recommended Fluids and Lubricantson page 7-13 and Maintenance Replacement Parts onpage 7-15. When the vehicle is serviced, make surethese are used. All parts should be replaced and allnecessary repairs done before you or anyone elsedrives the vehicle. We recommend the use of genuineparts from your dealer/retailer.Scheduled MaintenanceTo maintain the ride, handling, and performance of thisvehicle, it is important that the first tire rotation servicebe performed when the vehicle has 5,000 to 8,000 miles(8 000 to 13 000 km). Check tires for inflation pressuresand wear. See Tires on page 6-56. Rotate tires. See TireInspection and Rotation on page 6-69 and “Tire WearInspection” in At Least Once a Month on page 7-10.When the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON messagedisplays, service is required for the vehicle. Have thevehicle serviced as soon as possible within the next600 miles (1 000 km). It is possible that, if driving underthe best conditions, the engine oil life system may notindicate that vehicle service is necessary for over a year.However, the engine oil and filter must be changed atleast once a year and at this time the system must bereset. Your dealer/retailer has trained service technicianswho will perform this work using genuine parts and resetthe system.If the engine oil life system is ever reset accidentally,service your vehicle within 3,000 miles (5 000 km) sincethe last service. Remember to reset the oil life systemwhenever the oil is changed. See Engine Oil Life Systemon page 6-18 for information on the Engine Oil LifeSystem and resetting the system.7-4
