This is normal systemoperation; the vehicle does not needservice. Turn LKA off if theseconditions continue.FuelUse the recommended fuel forproper vehicle maintenance.If the vehicle has a 3.6L V6 engine,use regular unleaded gasoline witha posted octane rating of 91 RON orhigher, otherwise an audibleknocking noise may be heard.If heavy knocking is heard whenusing gasoline rated at 91 RON orhigher, the engine needs service.If the vehicle has the 2.0L L4 turboengine, use premium unleadedgasoline with a posted octane ratingof 95 RON or higher. Regularunleaded gasoline rated at 91 RONor higher can be used, butacceleration and fuel economy willbe reduced, and an audibleknocking noise may be heard. If thisoccurs, use a gasoline rated at 95RON or higher as soon as possible.Otherwise, the engine could bedamaged. If heavy knocking isheard when using gasoline rated at95 RON or higher, the engine needsservice.Use of Seasonal FuelsUse summer and winter fuels in theappropriate season. The fuelsindustry automatically modifies thefuel for the appropriate season.If fuel is left in the vehicle tank forlong periods of time, driving orstarting could be affected. Drive thevehicle until the fuel is at one-halftank or less, then refuel with thecurrent seasonal fuel.Prohibited FuelsGasolines containing oxygenatessuch as ethers and ethanol, as wellas reformulated gasolines, areavailable in some cities. If thesegasolines comply with thepreviously described specification,then they are acceptable to use.However, E85 (85% ethanol) andother fuels containing more than15% ethanol must be used only inFlexFuel vehicles.
