Chapter 8 Receiving Faxes 8-11Receiving FaxesReceiving While Performing Other TasksThe FAX is a multitasking device so it can receive faxes and voice calls while you areperforming other tasks.If the FAX cannot print a received fax because it is performing another task thatprevents it from doing so, it will receive the fax in memory. Then, as soon as itcompletes the other task, the FAX automatically prints the received fax from memory.Receiving Faxes in Memory When aProblem OccursIf the FAX encounters a problem when it is receiving a fax, it automatically stores theunprinted pages of the fax in memory. It then displays REC’D IN MEMORY as well asone or more messages in the LCD. For an explanation of the message(s) and detailson the action to take, see p. 13-8.n• The FAX’s memory can store up to approximately 256 pages.*• You can set the unit so that it does not store faxes in memory if a problem occurs duringreception (1 MEMORY RX, p. 14-7).• Once the problem is solved and the unit prints the received fax, it will delete the fax frommemory.• If the unit’s memory becomes full while receiving a fax in memory, you will not be able toreceive the remaining pages. Contact the other party and ask them to resend theremainder of the fax.Cancelling ReceivingFollow this procedure if you want to stop receiving a fax before reception is completed:1 Press Stop.• The FAX asks you to confirm that youwant to cancel receiving.2 Press T to cancel receiving.• Receiving is not cancelled until youpress T.
