3-10 Using the MultiPASS Fax Setup Utility Chapter 3Ring ToneYou can set the volume level of the ring tone. The default is Medium.Ring TimeWhen your MultiPASS is set to receive both fax and telephone calls, itrings to inform you of an incoming telephone call. If you do not pick upthe telephone within a certain amount of time, the MultiPASS stopsringing. You use this option to set the appropriate amount of time theMultiPASS should ring. The default is 15 seconds.Default Action If No Answer to TelephoneYou set this option to Receive if you want the MultiPASS to handle anincoming call, detected as a telephone call that is not answered, as anincoming fax. If no fax is received, the line is then disconnected. Whenthis option is set to Disconnect, the MultiPASS automatically disconnectsthe unanswered call, without trying to receive a fax. The default isReceive.Answering Machine Mode OptionsYou use this option only if you set the Receive mode on the Receive Faxpanel to answering machine mode (AnsMode), and your fax sender maybe using a fax machine that does not emit a send fax signal.Receive Fax If No SignalSelect this option to have the MultiPASS automatically receive a call as afax call if a send fax signal is not detected for the number of seconds youspecify. Clear this option to have the MultiPASS remain in answeringmachine mode even if no send fax signal is detected. If no sound isdetected by the MultiPASS (such as the caller speaking to leave amessage), the answering machine disconnects.Silent PeriodSet the number of seconds you want the MultiPASS to check for a sendfax signal. The default is 4 seconds.Remote ReceiveYou select this option so that you can receive a fax by pressing an IDcode on the telephone attached to the MultiPASS. If you select thisoption, you must assign a remote identification number that signals theMultiPASS to receive the fax. The default is Remote Receive.Remote Identification NumberIf you enable the Remote Receive option, you assign the identificationnumber you will use to set the MultiPASS to receive a fax. The defaultnumber is 25.
