16 Installing and Getting Started Chapter 2After you set up your printer for sharing, the client systems must installthe printer driver onto their systems. They can do so directly from yoursystem. Based on which Windows operating system you are using, thefollowing client system can share your printer:If your system (server) is: Install on client system:Windows 98/Me Windows 98/MeWindows 2000/XP Windows 98/Me or Windows 2000/XPWhen a document is printed by the client system to a shared printer, anyprinting messages (status or error messages) display on the serversystem.To set up the printer for sharing:1. On the MultiPASS server system, on the Windows desktop, clickStart.2. On the Start menu, point to Settings and then click Printers(in Windows XP, click Printers and Faxes on the Start menu).3. In the Printers window (in Windows XP, the Printers and Faxeswindow), click the MultiPASS printer icon.4. On the File menu, click Sharing.If the Sharing command is not available, you need to set up printersharing in Windows. For details, see your Windows userdocumentation.5. In the Properties dialog box, on the Sharing tab, click Shared, SharedAs, or Share this printer.6. In the Share Name box (Windows 98/Me/XP) or Shared As box(Windows 2000), type a name you want to assign to the sharedprinter.If available, you may also want to assign a password, which wouldthen be required by the client system when using the printer.
