The ink levels are displayed from left to rightin the following order: Black (K), Photo Cyan (PC), Cyan(C), Photo Magenta (PM), Magenta (M), Yellow (Y). How to Read the Ink Level DisplayThe height of a small graphic indicates the ink level ineach tank.When to Replace an Ink TankYou should have extra ink tanks on hand ready forreplacement when either of the conditions below occurs.Importantz An ink tank cannot be replaced during printingbecause the right cover is locked.z The printed image may become uneven if the printer isstopped during a print job to replace an ink tank.z Never open the right cover or operate the release leverwhile the Initializing message is displayed. This coulddamage the printer. When the Check Ink Level Message isDisplayedThe Check Ink Level message displays when the inklevel in a tank becomes low. Printing may continue. Themessage display tells you that an ink tank is about to runout of ink. Check the amount of ink remaining in thetanks in the Status Monitor (Windows), Printmonitor(Macintosh) or on the printer operation panel, and makesure that you have replacement ink tanks for the colorsthat are running low.Notez When the level of ink in a tank runs low, the printermay not have sufficient ink to complete Cleaning B oranother maintenance operation that consumes a largeamount of ink.
