The following media can be used with this printer.Importantz Some media require more time for the ink to dry afterprinting. After printing please allow the ink to drysufficiently before you handle it.z With some print media, the hue of some colors maychange slightly when the ink on the surface of themedia has dried completely.Notez For details about how to handle and store print media,please refer to the instructions provided with thepacket.The Suitable Black Ink for MediaEither one of two types of black ink can be used with thisprinter, Photo Black Ink or Matte Black Ink. Thecharacteristics of these two types of ink are different andbest suited for different types of media. Carefully select thetype of black ink you want to use, based on the type ofmedia you use and how often you use it.Cautionz If you print with the black ink that is not suited to thetype of media, it may result in unsatisfactory printingand foul the media or printer with ink.Importantz To switch the type of black ink, execute Change BkInk Type on the printer operation panel and follow theinstructions displayed. You can switch between thetypes of black ink, but please remember that everytime you switch the black ink tanks the printerconsumes about 45 ml of black ink and about 15 ml ofthe colored inks in total. (→ P.4-47) Black Ink Types and Characteristicsz Photo Black Ink (BIC-1431 Bk)This ink is best for media like glossy and proof mediawith high-density black on a glossy surface. This inkcan be used to print on most types of media includingglossy paper.z Matte Black Ink (BIC-1451 MBk)This ink is best for black density on matte or fine artmedia, and even plain paper. Do not use matte blackink on media with a glossy surface.
