15Fig. 18 — Condensate Drain Pan (Side View)Fig. 19 — Condensate Drain Pan Piping DetailsAll units must have an external trap for condensate drainage.Install a trap at least 4 in. (102 mm) deep and protect againstfreeze-up. If drain line is installed downstream from the exter-nal trap, pitch the line away from the unit at 1 in. per 10 ft (25mm per 3 m) of run. Do not use a pipe size smaller than theunit connection ( 3 /4 in.).Step 11 — Make Electrical ConnectionsNOTE: Field-supplied wiring shall conform with the limitationsof minimum 63°F (33°C) rise.FIELD POWER SUPPLYIf equipped with optional Powered Convenience Outlet, thepower source leads to the convenience outlet’s transformer pri-mary are not factory connected. Installer must connect theseleads according to required operation of the convenience out-let. If an always-energized convenience outlet operation is de-sired, connect the source leads to the line side of the unit-mounted disconnect. (Check with local codes to ensure thismethod is acceptable in your area.) If a de-energize via unitdisconnect switch operation of the convenience outlet is de-sired, connect the source leads to the load side of the unit dis-connect. On a unit without a unit-mounted disconnect, connectthe source leads to compressor contactor C and indoor fan con-tactor IFC pressure lugs with unit field power leads. See Con-venience Outlets on page 16 for power transformer connec-tions.The field power wires are connected to the unit at line-sidepressure lugs on compressor contactor C and indoor fan con-tactor IFC (see wiring diagram label for control box compo-nent arrangement) or at factory-installed option non-fused dis-connect switch. Maximum wire size is #2ga AWG (copper on-ly). See Fig. 21 and unit label diagram for field power wiringconnections.NOTE: Unit may be equipped with short test leads (pigtails) onthe field line connection points on contactor C or optional discon-nect switch. These leads are for factory-run test purposes only; re-move and discard before connecting field power wires to unit con-nection points. Make field power connections directly to line con-nection pressure lugs only.Connect field power supply conductors to LINE side terminalswhen the switch enclosure cover is removed to attach the handle.Fig. 20 — Disconnect Switch and UnitUNITS WITHOUT FACTORY-INSTALLEDDISCONNECTWhen installing units, provide a disconnect switch per NEC(National Electrical Code) of adequate size. Disconnect sizingdata is provided on the unit informative plate. Locate on unitcabinet or within sight of the unit per national or local codes.Do not cover unit informative plate if mounting the disconnecton the unit cabinet.UNITS WITH FACTORY-INSTALLED DISCONNECTThe factory-installed optional disconnect switch is located in aweatherproof enclosure located under the main control box.The manual switch handle is accessible through an opening inthe access panel. Discard the factory test leads (see Fig. 21).WARNINGELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARDFailure to follow this warning could result in personal injuryor death.Unit cabinet must have an uninterrupted, unbroken electri-cal ground to minimize the possibility of personal injury ifan electrical fault should occur. This ground may consistof electrical wire connected to unit ground lug in controlcompartment, or conduit approved for electrical groundwhen installed in accordance with NEC (National Electri-cal Code); ANSI/NFPA 70, latest edition (in Canada, Ca-nadian Electrical Code CSA [Canadian Standards Associ-ation] C22.1), and local electrical codes.DRAIN(FACTORY-INSTALLED)PLUGCONDENSATE PAN (SIDE VIEW)STANDARDSIDE DRAINALTERNATEBOTTOM DRAINNOTE: Trap should be deep enough to offset maximum unit staticdifference.
