175. Remove two slot fillers in the bottom of the cover to per-mit service tool cords to exit the cover.6. Check for full closing and latching.Fig. 23 — Weatherproof Cover InstallationNon-Powered Convenience OutletThis type requires the field installation of a general-purpose125v 15A circuit powered from a source elsewhere in thebuilding. Observe national and local codes when selecting wiresize, fuse or breaker requirements, and disconnect switch sizeand location. Route 125v power supply conductors into thebottom of the utility box containing the duplex receptacle.Unit-Powered Convenience OutletA unit-mounted transformer is factory-installed to step downthe main power supply voltage to the unit to 115v at the duplexreceptacle. This option also includes a manual switch withfuse, located in a utility box and mounted on a bracket behindthe convenience outlet; access is through the unit’s control boxaccess panel. See Fig. 22.The primary leads to the convenience outlet transformer arenot factory-connected. Selection of primary power source is acustomer option. If local codes permit, the transformer primaryleads can be connected at the line-side terminals on the unit-mounted non-fused disconnect switch; this will provide servicepower to the unit when the unit disconnect switch is open. Oth-er connection methods will result in the convenience outlet cir-cuit being de-energized when the unit disconnect switch isopen. See Fig. 24.Using Unit-Mounted Convenience OutletsUnits with unit-mounted convenience outlet circuits will oftenrequire that two disconnects be opened to de-energize all pow-er to the unit. Treat all units as electrically energized until theconvenience outlet power is also checked and de-energizationis confirmed. Observe National Electrical Code Article 210,Branch Circuits, for use of convenience outlets.Fuse On Power TypeThe factory fuse is a Bussman “Fusetron” 1 T-15, non-renew-able screw-in (Edison base) type plug fuse.Fig. 24 — Powered Convenience Outlet WiringDuty CycleThe unit-powered convenience outlet has a duty cycle limita-tion. The transformer is intended to provide power on an inter-mittent basis for service tools, lamps, etc; it is not intended toprovide 15-amps loading for continuous duty loads (such aselectric heaters for overnight use). Observe a 50% limit on cir-cuit loading above 8 amps. Convenience outlet usage rating:• Continuous usage: 8 amps maximum• Intermittent usage: Up to 15 amps maximum for up to 2hours maximumSee Fig. 25.Test the GFCI receptacle by pressing the TEST button on theface of the receptacle to trip and open the receptacle. Check forproper grounding wires and power line phasing if the GFCI re-ceptacle does not trip as required. Press the RESET button toclear the tripped condition.Fig. 25 — Convenience Outlet UtilizationNotice Label1.
