18Non-powered typeThis type requires the field installation of a general-purpose125-v 15-A circuit powered from a source elsewhere in thebuilding. Observe national and local codes when selecting wiresize, fuse or breaker requirements and disconnect switch sizeand location. Route 125-v power supply conductors into thebottom of the utility box containing the duplex receptacle.Unit-powered typeA unit-mounted transformer is factory-installed to stepdownthe main power supply voltage to the unit to 115-v at the du-plex receptacle. This option also includes a manual switch withfuse, located in a utility box and mounted on a bracket behindthe convenience outlet; access is through the unit’s control boxaccess panel. See Fig. 26.The primary leads to the convenience outlet transformer arenot factory-connected. Selection of primary power source is acustomer option. If local codes permit, the transformer primaryleads can be connected at the line-side terminals on the unit-mounted non-fused disconnect switch; this will provide servicepower to the unit when the unit disconnect switch is open. Oth-er connection methods will result in the convenience outlet cir-cuit being de-energized when the unit disconnect switch isopen. See Fig. 28.Fig. 27 — Weatherproof Cover InstallationFig. 28 — Powered Convenience Outlet WiringUsing unit-mounted convenience outletsUnits with unit-mounted convenience outlet circuits will oftenrequire that two disconnects be opened to de-energize all pow-er to the unit. Treat all units as electrically energized until theconvenience outlet power is also checked and de-energizationis confirmed. Observe National Electrical Code Article 210,Branch Circuits, for use of convenience outlets.Fuse on power typeThe factory fuse is a Bussman 1 “Fusetron” T-15, non-renew-able screw-in (Edison base) type plug fuse.Fig. 29 — Convenience Outlet Utilization Notice LabelTest the GFCI receptacle by pressing the TEST button on theface of the receptacle to trip and open the receptacle. Check forproper grounding wires and power line phasing if the GFCI re-ceptacle does not trip as required. Press the RESET button toclear the tripped condition.FACTORY-OPTION THRU-BASE CONNECTIONSThis service connection kit consists of two 1 / 2 -in. electricalbulkhead connectors and a 3/ 4-in. electrical bulkhead connec-tor, all factory-installed in the embossed (raised) section of theunit basepan in the condenser section. The 3 /4-in. bulkheadconnector enables the low-voltage control wires to passthrough the basepan.
