5 x Operation, ParametersDAIKIN EKHHP(3/5)00AA2V3DAIKIN Hot water heat pump008.1423444_02 – 09/2015Installation and maintenance manual215.3 Operating modes5.3.1 ECOIn order to increase the efficiency, we try not to use the integratedelectrical Booster Heater (BOH) in this operating mode (simulta-neous operation of Hot water heat pump and Booster-Heater(BOH) is not permitted, other than with activated "Low-Noise Op-eration").In addition, most individual settings can be made in order to guar-antee convenient and efficient operation. The settings are carriedout using the parameters, as described in chapter 5.6.If the installation is switched on, it regulates the hot water gener-ation fully-automatically based on the set tipulations in the con-troller. Icon is shown in the display of the controller. Icon is not shown in the display of the controller.● Use the and keys to set the desired hotwater temperature. The hot water generation can be affected by additional functions:– Low-noise operation– Switching times programming– Automatic defrosting function– Thermal disinfection (Legionella protection)– HT/NT Function– SmartGrid FunctionIf the user enters a value manually, this setting remains activeuntil the user changes it or until set special functions affect it.At the end of the special function, we again use the set value.Setting the switching times for the hot water generation is de-scribed in chapter 5.4.If the set temperature value for hot water generation is notachieved by the heat pump external unit, the controller switchesover to the integrated Booster Heater (BOH).The Booster Heater (BOH) is only switched on if the hot watertemperature has been set above the maximum temperaturevalue achievable by the heat pump (THP MAX) and the valuemeasured by the temperature sensor has reached the temper-ature (THP Max ).5.3.2 AutomaticThis operating mode is identical to the operating mode "ECO",but the integrated electric Booster Heater (BOH) is automaticallyswitched on to aid heating and other settings are carried out au-tomatically to guarantee convenient operation.● Press the key. Icon is shown in the display of the controller.● Press the key or briefly. The current target temperature for hot water is displayedfor 5 s on the display of the controller.● Within the 5 s, use the and keys to setthe required hot water temperature. When you press the key again, the operating mode"Automatic" is switched off and the icon goes out.5.3.3 Low NoiseLow noise mode means that the exterior heat pump unit is oper-ating at reduced output. This reduces the operating noise causedby the exterior heat pump unit.● Press the key. Icon is shown in the display of the controller.5.3.4 High OutputIt is heated to the set hot water temperature using a heat pumpand integrated electrical Booster Heater (BOH).The operating mode "High Output" can be activated if larger hotwater draw-off volumes are required for a short period.● Press the key. Icon flashes in the controller display. The output support is automatically deactivated again once thespecified target temperature for hot water is reached.5.4 Setting the timer programmeThe DAIKIN EKHHP can be controlled according to manual set-tings or according to a freely-programmable timer programme.A timer programme is not included at the factory. The user can programme up to 5 switching points for each day tocontrol the hot water generation and the operating mode (normal, low noise). The timer programme is switched on and off using the key.Saved time switching points can be changed or deleted at anytime. To have a better overview, we recommend making a recordof the programmed switching times and keeping this in a safeplace. The user can carry out manual setting changes even if the timerprogramme is switched on. The controller always only works ac-cording to the most recent user parameters set until new param-eters are set. In this way, manually executed settings are can-celled by the timer programme at the next active switch time.MAXIMUM ENERGY UTILISATIONThe most effective energy utilisation is achieved by theDAIKIN Hot water heat pump at the lowest possiblehot water temperatures. At temperatures in excess of 50°C, the effectiveness(COP) of the DAIKIN Hot water heat pump will bemade worse by the heating support provided by theelectrical heater (Booster Heater), depending on theoutdoor temperature. The hot water set temperature should be selected sothat, in combination with the setting for the hysteresis(parameter [6-00]), the buffer storage of the DAIKINEKHHP is not cooled excessively by the hot watergeneration.Higher power costs can be generated than with otheroperating modes when using this operating mode. The operating mode "Low noise operation" reduces theoutput in DHW heating operation with the result that itmay no longer be possible to reach the preset targettemperatures.
