Installation and maintenance manual32DAIKIN EKHHP(3/5)00AA2V3DAIKIN Hot water heat pump008.1423444_02 – 09/20157 x Service and maintenance7 Service and maintenance7.1 GeneralRegular inspection and maintenance of the DAIKIN EKHHP re-duces energy consumption and ensures a long life and smoothoperation.Legal requirementsAccording to the F-Gases Directive (EC) No. 842/2006 Article 3,replaced on 01.01.2015 by (EC) No. 517/2014 Articles 3 and 4,Operators (or Owners) must perform regular maintenance ontheir fixed cooling systems, check impermeability and have anyleaks repaired immediately. All installation, maintenance and repair work on the cooling circuitmust be documented e.g. in the operating manual.Operators of DAIKIN heat pump systems are subject to thefollowing obligations:● With a system coolant total filling quantity of 3 kg – 30 kgor from 6 kg in hermetic systems and from 01.01.2017 with atotal filling quantity of 5-50 t CO 2-equivalent or from 10 t CO 2-equivalent in hermetic systems: Inspections carried out by certified personnel at intervalsof no more than 12 months and documentation of thework performed in accordance with valid regulations. This documentation must be retained for at least 5 years.7.2 Periodic ChecksThe filling water can evaporate slightly over a period of time as aresult of the design. This process does not represent a technicalfault, but is rather a physical property which requires periodicchecking and correction, if necessary, by the operator.● Remove the protective cover (see section 2.4).● Visual check of the water storage tank level (filling levelindicator) Top up the water if necessary (see section 7.2.1 and7.2.2, and determine the cause for the incorrect fillinglevel and rectify.7.2.1 Filling, topping up storage tank - withoutinstalled solar system● Connect the filling hose with backflush prevention (1") to theconnection "DrainBack Solar - feed" (see fig. 7-1, item 1).● Fill the storage tank on the DAIKIN EKHHP until watercomes out of the connection (fig. 7-1, item 23), that hasbeen connected as the safety overflow.● Disconnect the filling hose with backflush prevention (1")again.RISK OF ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE!Important information regarding the coolant used. The complete heat pump system contains refrigerantwith fluorinated greenhouse gases which damage theenvironment if released.Coolant type: R410AGWP* value: 2087,5* GWP = Global Warning Potential● Work on fixed cooling systems (heat pumps) andair-conditioning systems can only be performed bypersons who hold a certificate of competence forthe European Region, in accordance with theF-Gas Regulation (Ec) No. 303/2008.● Fill in the total coolant filling quantity on thesupplied lable on the heat pump exterior unit(for information consult the installation instructionsfor the heat pump exterior unit).● Never allow coolant to be released into the atmos-phere - always suction it off and recycle using asuitable recycling device.Have the inspection and maintenance carried out byauthorised and trained HVAC engineers once a year, ideally before the heating period. This can preventfaults during the heating period.DAIKIN recommends an inspection and maintenancecontract to ensure regular inspection and maintenance. The European statutory investigation period applies forheat pumps from a total system coolant filling quantityof 3 kg or, as of 01.01.2017 from a total filling quantityof 5 t CO 2-equivalent (in the case of R410A from2.4 kg).DAIKIN nonetheless recommends the conclusion of amaintenance contract, including documentation of thework carried out in the operating manual in order to pre-serve the right to guarantee, including for systems forwhich there is not legal obligation to monitor imperme-ability.Certified people are those who have proof of expertisefor the European Community for work on stationaryrefrigeration systems (heat pumps) and air conditioningsystems, according to the F-Gases Directive (EC).303/2008.– up to 3 kg coolant fill quantity: Expert certificatecategory II– 3 kg coolant fill quantity or over: Expert certifi-cate category ICAUTION!Filling the storage tank container with excessive waterpressure or with too high a flow speed can causedamage to the DAIKIN EKHHP.● Only fill with a water pressure <6 bar and a flowspeed <15 l/min.UK only!CAUTION!If filling or topping up the storage tank is done bymeans of the boiler filling and drain valve, a temporaryfilling loop must be used with the appropriate backflowprevention device in accordance with clause G24.2,Guidance to the Water Supply (Water Fittings)Regulations 1999.
