3.16 Main Menu - Application Functions 2 -Group 243.16.1 24-0* Fire ModeCAUTIONPlease note the frequency converter is only one componentof the VLT HVAC Basic Drive system. Correct function of FireMode depends on the correct design and selection of systemcomponents. Ventilation systems working in life safetyapplications have to be approved by the local fireAuthorities. Non-interruption of the frequency converter due toFire Mode operation could cause over pressure and result indamage to VLT HVAC Basic Drive system and components, hereunder dampers and air ducts. The frequency converter itselfcould be damaged and it may cause damage or fire. Danfossaccepts no responsibility for errors, malfunctions personal injuryor any damage to the frequency converter itself or componentsherein, VLT HVAC Basic Drive systems and components herein orother property when the frequency converter has beenprogrammed for Fire Mode. In no event shall Danfoss be liableto the end user or any other party for any direct or indirect, special or consequential damage or loss suffered by such party, which has occurred due to the frequency converter beingprogrammed and operated in Fire ModeBackgroundFire Mode is for use in critical situations, where it isimperative for the motor to keep running, regardless of thefrequency converter’s normal protective functions. Thesecould be ventilation fans in tunnels or stairwells for instance, where continued operation of the fan facilitates safeevacuation of personnel in the event of a fire. Someselections of Fire Mode Function cause alarms and tripconditions to be disregarded, enabling the motor to runwithout interruption.ActivationFire Mode is activated only via Digital Input terminals. Seeparameter group 5-1* Digital Inputs.Messages in displayWhen Fire Mode is activated, the display will show a statusmessage “Fire Mode” and a warning “Fire Mode”.Once the Fire Mode is again deactivated, the statusmessages will disappear and the warning will be replaced bythe warning “Fire M Was Active”. This message can only bereset by power-cycling the frequency converter supply. If,whilst the frequency converter is active in Fire Mode, awarranty-affecting alarm (see 24-09 FM Alarm Handling)should occur, display will show the warning “Fire M LimitsExceeded”.Digital and relay outputs can be configured for the statusmessages “Fire Mode Active” and the warning “Fire M WasActive”. See parameter group5-3* and parameter group 5-4*.“Fire M was Active” messages can also be accessed in thewarning word via serial communication. (See relevantdocumentation). The status messages “Fire Mode” can be accessed via theextended status word.Message Type LCP Messages in display Warning Word 2 Ext.
