67Appendix A: Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory InformationGeneral Power SafetyObserve the following guidelines whenconnecting your equipment to a power source:• Check the voltage rating before you connectthe equipment to an electrical outlet toensure that the required voltage andfrequency match the available power source.• Your device is equipped with either aninternal power source or an external adapter. For internal power sources, your device isequipped with one of the following:– An auto-sensing voltage circuit - Deviceswith an auto-sensing voltage circuit donot have a voltage selection switch on theback panel and automatically detect thecorrect operating voltage.– A manual voltage selection switch -Devices with a voltage selection switchon the back panel must be manually set tooperate at the correct operating voltage.Set the switch to the position that mostclosely matches the voltage used in yourlocation.NOTE: The switch on your system may bedifferent than the one pictured.CAUTION: To help avoid damaging acomputer with a manual voltage selectionswitch, set the switch for the voltagethat most closely matches the AC poweravailable in your location.• To prevent electric shock, plug the equipmentpower cables into properly groundedelectrical outlets. If the equipment isprovided with a 3-prong power cable, do notuse adapter plugs that bypass the groundingfeature, or remove the grounding featurefrom the plug or adapter.
