For PowerConnect Layer 2 switches, you can set the Syslogbuffer limit from 1 – 100 entries. For PowerConnect Layer 3 switches, you can set the Syslog bufferlimit from 1 – 1000 entries.Configuration notes• You must save the configuration and reload the software to place the change into effect.• If you decrease the size of the buffer, the software clears the buffer before placing the changeinto effect.• If you increase the size of the Syslog buffer, the software will clear some of the older locallybuffered Syslog messages.Changing the log facilityThe Syslog daemon on the Syslog server uses a facility to determine where to log the messagesfrom the Dell PowerConnect device. The default facility for messages the Dell PowerConnectdevice sends to the Syslog server is “user”. You can change the facility using the followingcommand.NOTEYou can specify only one facility.
