To change the time, press the right-arrow key toincrease the number in the highlighted field or press theleft-arrow key to decrease the number. If you prefer, youcan type in numbers in each of the appropriate fields.DateDate resets the date on the computer’s internal calendar.Your system automatically displays the day of the weekcorresponding to the settings in the three fields that fol-low (month, day-of-month, and year). To change the date, press the right-arrow key to increasethe number in the highlighted field or press the left-arrowkey to decrease the number. If you prefer, you can type innumbers in the month and day-of-month fields.Diskette Drive A and Diskette Drive BDiskette Drive A and Diskette Drive B identify thetype(s) of diskette drive(s) installed in your computer. The standard configuration for this system is one 3.5-inchdiskette drive installed at the top of the drive cage. Thisdrive is designated Diskette Drive A and is normally theonly diskette drive in the computer. If you install a second diskette drive, it is normally desig-nated as Diskette Drive B.The relative positions of the two drive options alwaysmatch the physical locations of the drives in your com-puter—the drive listed on top is the top drive in yourcomputer. The options are:• 5.25 Inch, 360 KB• 5.25 Inch, 1.2 MB• 3.5 Inch 720 KB• 3.5 Inch, 1.44 MB• Not InstalledNOTE: Tape drives are not reflected in the Diskette DriveA and Diskette Drive B categories. For example, if youhave a single diskette drive and a tape drive attached tothe diskette/tape drive interface cable, set the DisketteDrive A category to match the characteristics of the dis-kette drive and set the Diskette Drive B category to NotInstalled.Drives: Primary and SecondaryPrimary identifies drives attached to the primaryenhanced integrated drive electronics (EIDE) interfaceconnector (labeled “IDE1”) on the system board; Sec-ondary identifies drives connected to the secondary EIDEinterface connector (labeled “IDE2”).For both the Primary and the Secondary drive sections, the Drive 0 and Drive 1 categories identify the type ofEIDE hard-disk drives installed in the computer. For eachdrive, seven parameters can be chosen as a group bydrive-type number, entered individually from the key-board or set automatically. A drive-type number specifiesthe parameters of a hard-disk drive based on a tablerecorded in the system’s BIOS.To choose a setting for these categories, type charactersfrom the keyboard or use the left- or right-arrow key tocycle through the choices. The options are:• Auto• None• Usr1 or Usr2• A specific drive-type numberNOTES: The Primary and Secondary drive sections iden-tify only EIDE drives. If a drive other than an EIDE driveis installed, the corresponding category in the Primaryand Secondary drive sections should be set to None.Operating systems that bypass the system BIOS may notobtain optimum hard-disk drive performance.
