To access the battery on the system board, rotatethe power supply as described in “Rotating thePower Supply Away From the System Board” inChapter 7.4. Locate the battery and remove it.The battery (see Figure 8-1) is mounted in a socketlabeled “BATTERY” at the back-right corner of thesystem board (as you face the front of the system).Pry the battery out of its socket with your fingers orwith a blunt, nonconductive object, such as a plasticscrewdriver (see Figure 8-10).Figure 8-10. System Battery and BatterySocket5. Install the new battery.Orient the battery with the side labeled “+” facingup. Then insert the battery into the socket, and snapit into place.6. Rotate the power supply back into position, mak-ing sure that the securing tab snaps into place.7. Replace the computer cover, reconnect your com-puter and peripherals to their power sources, andturn them on.8. Enter the System Setup program, and confirmthat the battery is operating properly.See Chapter 3, “Using the System Setup Program,”for information on running the System Setupprogram.Enter the correct time and date through the SystemSetup program’s Time and Date categories. Also,restore the correct settings for the system configura-tion information using the copy made in step 1, andthen exit the System Setup program.9. Turn off your computer, and unplug it for at leastten minutes.10. After ten minutes, plug in the computer, turn iton, and enter the System Setup program.
