Eaton Corporation Page 36 Ver 1.1G. DC ProtectionThis is the over current and over voltage protection that is used for the DirectCurrent (DC) side. According the NEC 690.15-18, fuse holders can be usedto disconnect the PV modules for serving. The Eaton grid-tied PV Inverter is shipped with dummy fuses (solid aluminumcylinders in the shape of the proper fuses). Since there are four pairs of DCinput ports, four fuse holders shall be equipped for the four positive (+)polarity ports and others fuse holders are equipped for the four negative (-)polarity ports. Therefore, there are supports to have eight fuse folders, total,to the DC-side as shown in figure 6.2.14.Figure 6.2.14: Location of DC Fuses HoldersIMPORTANTThe Eaton grid-tied PV Inverter is shipped with a dummy fuse inthe fuse holder. It is necessary to select the proper series fusedepending with the solar modules that are used. Remove alldummy fuses prior to installation and operation. The installer or qualified service personnel should select the required DCfuses during the installing procedure. The rating selection of the DCprotection fuses should be selected based on the amount of solar modulesconnected in the PV system. The criterion of fuse selection can be calculated by a standard formula inorder to help the installer or service personnel to select the correct rating offuse to use.
