If the modem does not respond correctly, bysending either OK" or 0" to the UPS, the UPS attempts to re-initialize the modem. After asuccessful re-initialization, the UPS returns to the Housekeeping function. If there-initialization is unsuccessful, two more attempts to re-initialize the modem are madebefore the UPS disables all Call Out attempts. Re-initialization is then attempted every tenminutes or until the communication mode is changed by the UPS front panel controls (orthe modem re-initializes). For each unsuccessful attempt, the UPS logs a modem failureevent into the event log.
