Risk of electrical shock.The components inside the UPS cabinet are secured to a sturdy metal frame that issupported by the UPS magnetics. This design allows authorized service personnel toremove repairable components with very little disassembly. All repairable parts andassemblies are located in the front of the UPS, allowing all routine maintenance andservicing to be performed with front panel access.You must schedule periodic performance checks of your UPS to keep it running properly.Regular routine checks of operation and system parameters will enable your UPS system tofunction efficiently for many trouble-free years.9.1 Important Safety InstructionsRemember that your UPS is designed to supply power EVEN WHEN DISCONNECTED FROMTHE UTILITY POWER. The UPS interior is unsafe until the DC power source is disconnectedand the electrolytic capacitors are discharged. After disconnecting the utility power andthe DC power, authorized service personnel should wait at least five minutes beforeattempting internal access to the UPS system.W A R N I N GA Batteries can present a risk of electrical shock or burn from high short−circuit current. Thefollowing precautions should be observed: 1) Remove watches, rings, or other metalobjects; 2) Use tools with insulated handles; 3) Do not lay tools or metal parts on top ofbatteries.A ELECTRIC ENERGY HAZARD. Do not attempt to alter any battery wiring or connectors.Attempting to alter wiring can cause injury.A Replace batteries with the same number and type of batteries as originally installed in theUPS.A LETHAL VOLTAGE PRESENT. This unit should not be operated with the cabinet doors openor protective panels removed. Do not make any assumptions about the electrical state ofany cabinet in the UPS system.A If the battery cabinet requiring service was not provided by the UPS manufacturer, refer tothe battery cabinet manufacturer’s operating manual for instructions on battery cabinetinstallation and maintenance, or contact your service representative.
