To softenburned-on food, place grates in a plastic bag containing¼-cup of household ammonia for several hours.Afterward, scrub grates with a plastic scouring padsoaked in hot, soapy water. Rinse well and dry.When replacing the grates, be sure to locate themcorrectly on the cooktop. Grates are identified by thewords LEFT and RIGHT on their bottom surfaces. Grateshould fit securely into the cooktop.Grates will gradually lose their shine due to theircontinual exposure to high temperatures.Grate Support Bumpers,IDQ\RIWKHUXEEHUJUDWHVXSSRUWEXPSHUVLQWKHFRRNWRSare missing or damaged, replacement parts can beobtained by calling 1.800.GE.CARES.To insert the new bumpers, simply place thecone-shaped end of the bumper into the hole in thecooktop and push down while gently twisting the bumper.Cleaning the Grates in the Self-Clean Oven,I\RXUFRRNWRSJUDWHVGRnot have rubber bumpers ontheir bottom surface and your oven racks are coatedwith black porcelain, your grates may be cleaned inWKHRYHQXVLQJWKHVHOIFOHDQF\FOH,I\RXUJUDWHVKDYHrubber bumpers, do not attempt to clean your grates inthe oven. Doing so will destroy the rubber bumpers andmay affect the function of your surface burners.Place oven racks in the positions labeled “R”, “2” and“4” in the illustration.
