33Defrosting▯ In the steam oven you can gently and evenlydefrost deep frozen food faster than at roomtemperature.▯ Use the "Defrosting" mode W to do this.▯ The specified defrosting times are only arecommendation. The time it takes to defrostdepends on the size and weight of the frozenfood: freeze your food flatly or individually. Thisshortens the defrosting time.▯ Remove the packaging before defrosting.▯ Defrost only the quantity you need forpreparation.▯ Remember: once defrosted, food will not keep foras long and spoils more quickly than fresh food.Immediately process defrosted food and cook itthoroughly.▯ After half of the defrosting time, turn meat or fishover. Separate frozen pieces of food such asberries or bits of meat. It is not necessary to fullydefrost fish. It will be sufficiently thawed if thetissue is soft enough to absorb the spices.ã Health risk!When defrosting food from animal sources, you mustremove the liquid that escapes during defrosting. Itmust never come into contact with other food.Bacteria could be transferred.Slide the unperforated cooking container underneaththe food. Pour away the collected thawing liquid frommeat and poultry. Then clean the sink and rinse withplenty of water.
