Aircraft without an operating transponderare invisible to both Traffic Advisory Systems (TAS) and TIS. Aircraft withoutaltitude reporting capability are shown without altitude separation dataor climb descent indication.NOTE: TIS and TAS are mutually exclusive.NOTE: Traffic is also displayed in the SVT feature on the PFD.The type of traffic systems that is installed is determined by the traffic pagesoft keys.• If Traffic Information Service (TIS) is configured, a STANDBY andOPERATE, soft key will be displayed.Traffic Information Service (TIS) is designed to help in detection andavoidance of other aircraft. TIS uses the Mode S transponder for the traffic datalink. TIS receives traffic information from ground stations, and is updated everyfive seconds. The GDU 620 displays up to eight traffic targets within a 7.5 NMradius, from 3000 feet below to 3500 feet above the requesting aircraft. Traffic isdisplayed according to TCAS symbology using three different symbols.4.6.1 Traffic Map PageThe Traffic Map Page is configured to show surrounding TIS traffic data inrelation to the aircraft’s current position and altitude, without clutter from thebasemap. Aircraft orientation on this map is always heading up unless there isno valid heading. The traffic mode is annunciated in the upper left corner of the Traffic MapPage. When the aircraft is on the ground, TIS automatically enters StandbyMode. Once the aircraft is airborne, TIS switches from Standby to OperatingMode and the GDU 620 begins to display traffic information.
