H 9-1SECTION 9VLOC RECEIVERSECTION 9: VLOC RECEIVER9.1 VLOC (VOR/LOCALIZER/GLIDESLOPE)RECEIVER OPERATIONSThe GNS 530 includes digitally-tuned VOR/localizerand glideslope receivers with the desired frequencyselected in the VLOC Window, along the left-hand side ofthe display (Figure 9-1). Frequency selection is performedby pressing the small left knob and turning the small andlarge left knobs to select the desired frequency.Figure 9-1 VLOC WindowIdent Audio and VolumeVLOC ident is enabled by pressing the VLOC VolumeKnob. When VLOC ident is enabled, an ‘ID’ indicationappears in the upper right corner of the VLOC Window,to the immediate right of ‘VLOC’ (Figure 9-1).VLOC audio volume is adjusted using the VLOCVolume Knob. Turn the VLOC Volume Knob clockwiseto increase volume, or counterclockwise to decreasevolume.VLOC Window and TuningVLOC frequencies are tuned with the large and smallleft knobs when the tuning cursor is in the standby VLOCfrequency field. The standby frequency always appearsbelow the active frequency. The active frequency is thefrequency currently in use.The tuning cursor remains in the COM Window. Toselect a VOR/Localizer/ILS frequency, press the smallleft knob momentarily to place the cursor in the VLOCWindow.NOTE: The tuning cursor normally appears in theCOM Window, unless placed in the VLOC Windowby pressing the small left knob. When the tuningcursor is in the VLOC Window, it automaticallyreturns to the COM Window after 30 seconds ofinactivity.
