See the GPSMAP 3006C/3010C & GPS 17 Installation Instructions forinformation on wiring and NMEA data.To activate the NMEA data:1. Highlight the Port 1 or Port 2 field, and press ENTER.2. Highlight NMEA In/NMEA Out, and press ENTER.When transferring data between two Garmin units, always set one to host anduse the other unit to send or request the data.Advanced NMEA Output SetupThe GPSMAP 3006C/3010C NMEA data transmission can be customized tochange the precision of the lat/lon minutes, set up the waypoint IDs, and keepthe output rate at two seconds. If the unit is set up to output all of the availableNMEA sentences, the output rate may exceed two seconds.Use the Advanced NMEA Setup Page to turn the GPS status (GSA, GSV),Waypoint/Route (WPL, RTE), and the Garmin proprietary sentences on or off.Check any other equipment’s owners manual to see what sentences are requiredto be enabled for functionality.lat/lon Minutes Precision allows you to adjust the number of digits to the rightof the decimal point for transmission of NMEA Output, either 2, 3, or 4 digits.Use the Waypoint ID setting to output the waypoint identifiers as names ornumbers.Advanced NMEA Setup PageTo change the advanced NMEA settings:1. Press the NMEA Setup soft key to open the Advanced NMEA SetupPage.2. To change, enable, or disable NMEA output sentences, highlight thesentence, and press ENTER to select or clear the check box. Onlyselected sentences are output.
