The flight plan is displayed on maps using different line widths, colors, and types, based on the type of leg and the segment of the flight plan currently beingflown.Up to 50 flight plans with up to 300 waypoints each can be created and storedin memory. One flight plan can be activated at a time and becomes the active flightplan. The active flight plan is erased when the destination is reached and the systemis turned off. When storing flight plans with an approach, the GPSMAP 695/696uses the waypoint information from the current database to define the waypoints. Ifthe database is changed or updated, the GPSMAP 695/696 automatically updatesthe information if the procedure has not been modified. If an approach is no longeravailable, the procedure is deleted from the affected stored flight plan(s), and an alertis displayed.Whenever an approach is loaded into the active flight plan it replaces the destinationairport with a sequence of waypoints for the selected approach. The airport must havea published instrument approach and only the final course segment (usually from finalapproach fix to missed approach point) of the published approach is available in theGPSMAP 695/696.data FieldSBy default, the Data Fields on the Active and Saved Flight Plan Pages are set todisplay Leg Desired Track (DTK), Leg Distance (DIS), and Leg Estimated Time En Route(ETE).
