Service Manual April 2016Checklist B Procedures38 Z-34/22 Bi-Energy Part No. 139234B-16Check the Electrical ContactorsNote: Genie specifications require that thisprocedure be performed every 250 hours orquarterly, whichever comes first.Maintaining the electrical contactors in goodcondition is essential to safe machine operation.Failure to locate a worn or damaged contactorcould result in an unsafe working condition andcomponent damage.1 Remove the non-steer drive chassis cover andlocate the electrical contactors mounted onthe component mounting panel.2 Visually inspect the contact points of eachcontactor for the following items:• Excessive burns• Excessive arcs• Excessive pittingElectrocution/burn hazard.Contact with electrically chargedcircuits could result in death orserious injury. Remove all rings,watches and other jewelry.Note: Replace the contactors if any damage isfound.B-17Inspect the Fuel and HydraulicTank Cap Venting SystemsGenie specifications require that this procedure beperformed every 250 hours or quarterly, whichevercomes first.Perform this procedure more often if dustyconditions exist.Free-breathing fuel and hydraulic tank caps areessential for good machine performance andservice life. A dirty or clogged tank cap may causethe machine to perform poorly and continued usemay cause component damage. Extremely dirtyconditions may require that the caps be inspectedmore often.Explosion and fire hazard.Engine fuels are combustible.Perform this procedure in anopen, well-ventilated area awayfrom heaters, sparks, flames andlighted tobacco. Always have anapproved fire extinguisher withineasy reach.Note: Perform this procedure with the engine off.1 Remove the fuel filler cap from the tank.2 Check for proper venting.Result: Air passes through the fuel tank cap.Proceed to step 4.Result: If air does not pass through the cap,clean or replace the cap. Proceed to step 3.Note: When checking for positive tank cap venting,air should pass freely through the cap.
