September 2016 Service and Repair ManualBoom ComponentsPart No. 1268556 43How to R epair the Primar y Boom C abl e Tr ac kHow to Repair the Primary BoomCable TrackComponent damage hazard.The boom cable track can bedamaged if it is twisted.Note: A cable track repair kit is available throughthe Genie Service Parts Department.1 Visually inspect the cable track and determinewhich 4-link section needs to be replaced.2 Support the cable track assembly above thesection to be replaced.3 Carefully remove the snap rings and pins fromeach end of the damaged section of cabletrack.4 Remove the retaining fasteners from the upperblack rollers from the 4-link section of cabletrack to be replaced. Remove the rollers.5 Lift up the hoses and cables and carefullyremove the damaged 4-link section of cabletrack.Component damage hazard.Cables and hoses can bedamaged if they are kinked orpinched.6 Remove the upper rollers from thereplacement section of cable track.7 Lift up the hoses and cables and carefullyinsert the new 4-link section of cable track.Component damage hazard.Cables and hoses can bedamaged if they are kinked orpinched.8 Connect the ends of the replacement cabletrack section to the existing cable track usingthe pins and snap rings.9 Install the rollers onto the new section of cabletrack.10 Operate the primary boom extend/retractfunction through a full cycle to ensure smoothoperation of the new section of cable track.
