3-12Use the PGND cable provided with the switch to connect the grounding strip in the equipment room.Otherwise, the grounding effect may not be ensured, which easily causes damage to the switch.Installing a Power ModuleEach S5820X series provides two power module slots on its rear panel. Hot swappable power moduleslot 1 is empty when the switch is shipped, and hot swappable power module 2 is installed with a fillerpanel. You can select one or two power modules for your switch as needed. For details about optionalpower modules, refer to Hot Swappable Power Modules on page 1-13.This section describes how to install and remove the power module and the power cord. To preventdamage to the device and personal injury, follow the installation and power-on procedure illustrated inFigure 3-17 and the power-off and removal procedure illustrated in Figure 3-18.Figure 3-17 Installation and power-on procedureInstall thepower moduleConnect thepower cordSwitch on thepower moduleInstall thepower moduleConnect thepower cordSwitch on thepower moduleFigure 3-18 Power-off and removal procedureSwitch off thepower moduleDisconnect thepower cordRemove thepower moduleSwitch off thepower moduleDisconnect thepower cordRemove thepower moduleInstalling the Power ModuleThe procedures of installing any type of hot-swappable power module into the S5820X series aresimilar. The installation procedure is as follows:Step1 Wear an ESD-preventive wrist strap, ensure a good skin contact and make sure that theESD-preventive wrist strap is properly grounded.Step2 Take the power module from the package and check that the power module model is as required.Step3 Face the slot into which the power module is to be inserted..Step4 Insert the power module with the upside up (if you insert it with the upside down, the insertion is notsmooth because of the specific structure design of the power module and slot). Grasp the handle of themodule with one hand and hold the module bottom with the other, and then slide the module slowlyalong the guide rails into the slot (see callout 1 in Figure 3-19).Step5 Fasten the captive screw on the power module clockwise with a Philips screwdriver until the powermodule is fixed into the chassis (see callout 2 in Figure 3-19).
