Advanced digital decoding andsignal processing provides specializedsurround modes that are compatible withvirtually all types of music software andmovie soundtracks.Audio Tape DubbingThe input directed to the audio and videorecord outputs £ ∞ e h is normallythe source currently selected for listeningthrough the AVR75. If you are using atape recorder or cassette deck with threeheads and wish to listen to the “off tape”playback to verify the recording, press thefront panel T-Mon button 5 or theTape 1 d button on the remote untilthe red light over T-Mon on the frontpanel illuminates. You will then hear thesource as it is being recorded and playedback through your tape machine. Thesource will be verified in both the frontpanel and on-screen displays. Note thatthe video surrounding the word AUDIOwill turn white to indicate that you are inthe Tape Monitor mode.Audio/Video SimulcastOperationIt is possible to watch and listen to, orrecord the video from one source alongwith the audio from a different input.This is useful in the case of musical pro-grams where the sound is being broadcastvia FM, or for sports events where youwish to have the picture from a TV sta-tion, but the play-by-play from a radiostation.For simulcast operation first select thevideo source input using the input selec-tion buttons on the remote control orfront panel 8)!d. Next, select theaudio source 2457d. Note thatthe on-screen menu display will show thesplit sources (see figure #7). The frontpanel display will show the audio sourcein large letters in the main portion of theInformation Display J, while thevideo source will appear in smaller lettersnext to the Visual indicator P.TV Auto FunctionWith the increasing sophistication oftoday’s home entertainment systems, itoften takes numerous remote controls toturn on all components in a system. Thisreceiver’s unique “TV Auto On” functiongreatly simplifies that task and reducesthe actions needed to bring your entiresystem to life.If you are using a TV or projector that hasa video output, connect the TV’s audioand video outputs to the rear panel of theAVR75 ª. Once those connections havebeen made and the feature is turned on,the AVR75 will automatically turn onwhenever the TV set is on, thanks to avideo-sensing circuit in the AVR75. Thiseliminates the need to turn the unit onseparately from the TV.As long as the TV is on and feeding avideo signal, the AVR75 will remain on.If no other input source is selected andthe TV is turned off, the AVR75 will turnoff approximately five minutes after theTV set.This feature is turned off in the AVR75’sfactory configuration and must be turnedon using the following steps:1. Press the front panel Mode ⁄button @.2. While holding the Mode button, pressthe TV button 8 for at least 5 secondsuntil the Main Information DisplayJ display reads TV AT OFF.3. Release both buttons and immediatelypress the TV button 8 again until thedisplay reads TV AT ON.If you select another input, such as CDor the AM/FM tuner after the unit hasturned on, it will remain on even if theTV is turned off. You must then turn thereceiver off using the front panel orremote Power buttons 1c.NOTE: The TV Auto On Function will onlyrespond to conventional video signals. Itwill NOT operate with S-Video.If, at some future point you wish to dis-able this feature, follow the steps outlinedabove but press the TV button 8 asshown in step #3 so that the display readsTV AT OFF.Delay Time AdjustOne aspect of the surround modes is thedelay of audio signals between the frontspeakers and the rear speakers. Eachsurround mode is factory preset with aspecific delay time, but it is possible toindividually adjust the delay timing tocustom tailor the sound to your individ-ual taste and the acoustic conditions inyour listening room or home theater.The factory setting is appropriate formost rooms, but some installationscreate an uncommon distance betweenthe front and surround speakers that maycause the arrival of front channel soundsto become disconnected from surroundchannel sounds.To resynchronize the front and surroundchannels, follow these steps:1. Measure the distance from thelistening/viewing position to thefront speakers.2. Measure the distance from thelistening/viewing position to thesurround speakers.28
