Update System or Service Processor Flash Service AidNote: This service aid is only supported for Online DiagnosticsThis service aid allows you to update the system or service processor flash.Additional update and recovery instructions may be provided; also you need to knowthe fully qualified path and file name of the flash update image file. If the flashupdate image file is on a diskette, you need the AIX DOS utilities package to processthe diskette. You can use the dosdir command to find out the name of the updateimage file. This service aid uses the dosread command to put the file into the /varfile system.Refer to the update instructions, or to the System Management Services “Config” onpage 4-4 or “Display Configuration” on page 4-25 or Service Processor menus onpage 3-7, to determine the level of the system unit or service processor flash. Usingthis service aid to update the system or service processor flash will not save thecurrent contents of the flash. The flash image file will be copied in the /var file system. If there is not enoughspace in the /var file system for the flash update image file, an error is reported. Ifthis occurs, exit the service aid, increase the size of the /var file system and retry theservice aid. After the file is copied, a warning screen will ask for confirmation tocontinue the flash update. Continuing the flash update will eventually cause thesystem to reboot and return to the AIX login prompt. After the system unit reboots, the file /var/update_flash_image can be removed to conserve space in the /var filesystem.Display Firmware Device NodeNote: Runs on CHRP systems units only. This task displays the firmware device node information that appears on CHRP plat-forms. The format of the output data will not necessarily be the same between dif-ferent levels of AIX. It is intended to be used to gather more information aboutindividual or particular devices on the system.Display Resource AttributesThis task will display the Customized Device Attributes associated with a selectedresource. This task is similar to running the lsattr -E -l resource command.7-22 RS/6000 Enterprise Server Model H Series User's Guide
