The following is a description of the controls and status indicators for yourcomputer.Hard disk drive in-use indicator: When this light is on, it indicates that thehard disk drive heads are being positioned or that your computer is readingfrom or writing to the hard disk. Do not turn off your computer when thisindicator is on or blinking.Power/standby indicator: This status indicator is on when power to yourcomputer is turned on.Power button: Press this button to turn your computer on or off. Do not turnoff your computer if the in-use indicator for the hard disk drive or diskettedrive is on.Note: The power button normally operates with a single touch. However, insome circumstances the computer might not immediately turn off. If thishappens, hold the power button down for approximately five seconds,and the computer will then turn off.LCD brightness decrease button: Press and hold this switch until the monitorbrightness is decreased to the desired level.LCD brightness increase button: Press and hold this switch until the monitorbrightness is increased to the desired level.Device bay release button: Press this button to lower the device bay for accessto the diskette drive and the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. To close it, pushupward on the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive until it latches in the closedposition.Diskette eject button: Push this button to release a diskette from the drive.CD-ROM or DVD-ROM eject button: Press this button on the CD-ROM orDVD-ROM drive to open the tray for inserting or removing a disc.CD-ROM or DVD-ROM in-use indicator: When this light is on, it indicatesthat your computer is reading from a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM disc.Diskette drive in-use indicator: When this light is on, it indicates that yourcomputer is reading from or writing to a diskette.14 User Guide
