Moving your computerTake the following precautions before moving your computer.1. Remove all media (diskettes, compact discs, tapes, and so on) from thedrives.2. Turn off the computer and all attached devices. Your hard disk driveautomatically parks the read/write heads to prevent damage to the harddisk.3. Unplug the power cords from electrical outlets.4. Disconnect communication cables, such as modem or network cables, fromthe phone line or network first, and then disconnect the other ends ofcables from the computer.5. Disconnect all cables connecting external devices such as a keyboard,mouse, printer, scanner, and joystick.6. If you are moving the computer just a short distance (to the next room, forexample) you can leave the keyboard and mouse connected. Slide thekeyboard under the display on the base and lift the computer as shown.7. If you are moving your computer other than a short distance and yousaved the original shipping cartons and packing materials, use them topack the units.
