For details about handling these devices, see“Handling static-sensitive devices” on page 39.Notes:v If your server comes with one Intel Pentium 1400 series microprocessor, thesecond microprocessor socket is not used. The server supports only one IntelPentium microprocessor. If you plan to install two Intel Xeon microprocessors inthe server, you must first remove the Intel Pentium microprocessor that camewith the server.v See “Installing a microprocessor and heat sink” on page 92 for notes and otherinformation that you must consider when you install a microprocessor.v Be extremely careful, the pins on the socket are fragile. Any damage to the pinsmay require replacing the system board.v Use the microprocessor installation tool that came with the new microprocessorto remove the microprocessor from the server. Failure to use the microprocessortool may cause damage to the pins on the socket. Any damage to the pins mayrequire replacing the system board. To replace an additional microprocessor and heat sink, complete the followingsteps:1. Read the safety information that begins on page Safety and “Installationguidelines” on page 36.2. Turn off the server (see “Turning off the server” on page 24) and all attachedperipheral devices. Disconnect all power cords; then, disconnect all externalcables from the server.3. Carefully turn the server on its side so that it is lying flat, with the coverfacing up.Attention: Do not allow the server to fall over.4.
