Part 1 - Getting Started14Camera Scan ButtonYou can scan and search and register cameras that werenot detected automatically or third party cameras.Pressing the Scan button displays the followingsubmenu.RescanScans for DirectIP™ cameras that were not scannedautomatically.Third Party ScanUsed to manually scan for third-party cameras thatcannot be recognized by the auto scan feature.Some functions may not be supported for the third-party cameras depending on their protocol and model.● Protocol: Select the protocol used by the camera (orvideo encoder) you wish to search for.Even if the network device uses a protocol supportedby the NVR, the device itself may not be visible forscanning and registration by the NVR. For moreinformation about supported network devices andmodels, contact your retailer.● Mode: Select the scan mode.– Auto Scan (LAN): Lists cameras in a LANenvironment. If Auto Scan (LAN) fails to recognizea camera, try using IP Address Scan instead.– IP Address Scan: Enter the IP address of acamera. The NVR scans for the camera matchingthe specified address. If you enter IP address’srange, the NVR scans for cameras falling underthe specified address’s range. By specifying an IPaddress, you can also specify which port to use withthe Remote Admin feature. It is recommended thatthe camera not be networked via DHCP (DynamicHost Configuration Protocol). If the camera isnetworked via DHCP, connection to the camera maynot be made properly depending on changes in theexternal network environment.● Advanced Setup: If the camera is networked butnot scanned, use this setup. This setup allows you tochange the network setting of the NVR’s VIDEO INport which is camera’s network environment. Checkthe camera’s network setting first before you use thissetup.Make sure that this setting does not conflict withthe WAN setting. For more information on theWAN setting, refer to WAN on page 64.– Link-local address: Disables this advanced setup.– Manual: Allows you to enter the IP address andother network settings manually.
