23g arcengleifier/tpution.ys/osi-y tothe system output, adjust thevolume control of the radio/tapedeck to the point where you firstbegin to hear audible distortion.Reduce the level just to the pointwhere the distortion goes away. This is the maximum undistortedoutput level of your head unit andsignal processors, and should notbe exceeded during use. If audi-ble distortion does not occur, con-tinue to increase the level untilthe head unit is turned all theway up. If this setting does notprovide adequate volume levels, gradually increase (turn clock-wise) the gain control of theGTS100x until the system playsas loud as necessary or when thefirst signs of distortion are heard. When multiple amplifiers areused in the system, it is best toadjust the gain of the amplifierdriving the main (usually front)speakers first. Then turn downthe head unit’s volume control toa comfortable level, and adjustthe remaining amplifiers for thedesired system balance. You willfind this easiest to do by adjust-ing the amplifiers in the followingorder: 1) front channels, 2) rearchannels, 3) subwoofers. Complexsystems incorporating tri- orquad-amplification can be time-consuming to adjust. Your localauthorized JBL installation spe-cialist is the best person to helpwith such adjustment.
