Control knob by rotating it to the desiredtemperature. (The temperature will be higher as the knobis rotated clockwise.) When the water temperature is lowerthan that set by the heater control, the heater and filtermotor/pump will be activated. The heater and filter func-tions will automatically turn off when the desired tempera-ture is reached. When the heater is on, the water is alsobeing filtered. The heater will also maintain water tempera-ture in the JETS mode. The heater control is designed to maintain a minimumtemperature of approximately 7-10°C (45-50°F), its lowestsetting. This does not necessarily protect the spa fromfreezing. See page 15 for winterizing procedures.Setting the ThermostatYou will notice by the indicator light that the heater is onwhen the water temperature falls below the desired tem-perature and will turn off when that temperature has beenreached. When the spa is not in use, you can set the thermostatto a lower temperature; then, when you wish to use the spa, adjust the TEMP CONTROL knob to the desired tempera-ture. The water temperature will rise at a rate of about 2°CQUANTUM SPA CONTROLSper hour with the optional spa cover, foam insulation andskirt panels in place and if the air temperature is 10°C(50°F) or warmer. This rate will necessitate a waiting periodbefore using the spa, the length of which will be determinedby the temperature of the water before turning on theheater. For example, if the water in the spa is kept at about21°C (70°F) when the spa is not in use, and the desiredtemperature is 38°C (100°F), it will take about 8.5 hours toheat up sufficiently.Once you have determined the desired setting on thethermostat knob, it is not necessary to change or readjustit again during normal operation unless you decide on adifferent setting. The optional spa cover available for your spa will helpcontrol heat loss from the water surface and thereby reduceenergy consumption. You can improve the spa’s heatretention by keeping the spa cover in place on the spa whileheating the water.Note on Determining WaterTemperature:As spa products generally perform in a narrow range ofoperating temperatures, we recommend that you use amedical (clinical type) thermometer for an accurate mea-surement of spa water temperature. Other types of ther-mometers, generally available, such as those used forswimming pools, are not sufficiently accurate for determin-ing spa water temperatures. Take water temperaturereadings in the HTR/FILTER mode when the heater hasjust turned off; the indicator lamp on the control panel willturn off at this time.TEMPERATURECONTROL KNOBWATER RAINBOW FLOWCONTROL LEVERSYSTEMSWITCHACCESSORYSWITCHTHERMOMOTER
