Birds have avery sensitive respiratory system. Fumes released duringan oven self-cleaning cycle may be harmful or fatal tobirds. Fumes released due to overheated cooking oil,fat, margarine and overheated non-stick cookware maybe equally harmful.Electrical ConnectionAppliances which require electricalpower are equipped with a three-pronggrounding plug which must beplugged directly into a properlygrounded three-hole 120 voltelectrical outlet.Always disconnect power to appliance before servicing.The three-prong grounding plug offers protectionagainst shock hazards. DO NOT CUT OR REMOVETHE THIRD GROUNDING PRONG FROM THEPOWER CORD PLUG.If an ungrounded, two-hole or other type electricaloutlet is encountered, it is the personal responsibilityof the appliance owner to have the outlet replacedwith a properly grounded three-hole electricaloutlet.Jenn-Air’s ventilation system is designed to captureboth cooking fumes and smoke from the cooktopsurface. If the system does not, these are some ductinginstallation situations to check:• 6” diameter round or 3 1 /4 ” x 10” rectangular ductingshould be used for duct lengths 10’-60’.• No more than three 90° elbows should be used.Distance between elbows should be at least 18”.• Recommended Jenn-Air wall cap MUST be used.Make sure damper moves freely when ventilationsystem is operating.• There should be a minimum clearance of 6” forcooktop installed near a side wall.• There should be a minimum clearance of 12” betweenthe bottom of the wall cap and the ground.If there is not an obvious improper installation, theremay be a concealed problem such as a pinched joint,obstruction in the pipe, etc. Installation is the responsi-bility of the installer and questions should be addressedfirst by the installer. The installer should very carefullycheck the ducting installation instructions.• Use the Flow Tester Card provided withyour appliance to check the air flow.Ducting InformationNote: Use 5” diameter round ducting if the ductlength is 10' or less.
