SYSTEM CONNECTIONSSPEAKERSIfonly onesetofspeakersistobeconnected,makeconnectionstotheterminalsmarkedSPEAKERSA,asshownonpage4.ConnectthespeakerstotheRIGHTandLEFTterminalsinaccor-dancewiththe locationselectedforeachspeaker.To ensurecorrectspeakerphasing,observepolaritymarks;connectterminalsmarked+onthe amplifiertosimilarly-markedspeakerterminals.Dothesameforamplifierandspeakerterminalsmarkedwithaminussign.Reversalofspeakerleadswillresultinlossofbass tonesandpoorstereoseparation.ifasecondsetofspeakersistobeused,makeconnectionsattherightsetofterminals,markedB.Note:If a single pair of speakers is to be used, each speaker must berated at 4 ohms or more.Whentwopairs ofspeakersareconnected(A+B)eachspeakermustberatedat8ohmsormore.WARNINGParticular attention must be given to makinggood electrical contact at the amplifier-output andspeaker terminals. Poor or loose connections cancause sparking or burning at the terminals becauseof the very high power that the amplifier can deliver.Follow these steps carefully.1. Strip 10 mm (3/8 inch) of insulation from theends of the speaker cable. Twist the bare strandsof wire together and solder the ends to keep thestrands from separating.white caeb——10mm (3/8 inch)2. Back the caps of the SPEAKERterminals on the amplifier allthe way out by turning themcounterclockwise as far asthey will go.3. Insert one end of the red cableinto the hole in the +terminalas shown at right.4. Turn the cap clockwise andtighten securely to ensure afirm contact.5. Connections at your speakers will vary dependingupon the type of terminals used. Check themanufacturer’s instructions and make sure that agood, tight, metal-to-metal contact is made.6.Checkallconnections.Makesureallare tight,andthat thereareno loose strandsof wiretouchingthewrongterminals, meta! cabinetortrim.TURNTABLESYour stereo turntable has two audio cables thatare terminated with phono plugs. PHONO 1 for anMM or MC cartridge and PHONO 2 for an MM car-tridge. Plug the left channel plug into the ‘‘LEFT”’and the right channel plug into the ‘‘RIGHT’’ PHONO1 INPUT jacks as shown on page 4.lf an additional turntable is to be used, makesimilar connections at the PHONO 2 jacks.If the turntable has a ground wire, connect it to theunit's GND terminal to avoid hum.TUNERSUse the TUNER terminals for connection to anFM stereo or AM-FM stereo tuner.Connect the left channel of the tuner to the“LEFT’’ TUNER input jack and the right channel ofthe tuner to the ‘‘RIGHT’’ TUNER input jack.AUX JACKSINPUT AUX jacks are used to connect other high-level signal sources, such as tuners, extra tape decks(equipped with preamps), TV or VTR sound outputmic preamps, etc.TAPE DECKSIf only one tape deck is to be connected to thesystem it is recommended that it be connected tothe jacks marked TAPE A.Tape deck input and output cables are normallyterminated with phono plugs.PlaybackPlug the left and right output cables of the tapedeck into the ‘‘LEFT’’ and ‘‘RIGHT’’ TAPE A PLAYjacks.RecordPlug the left and right input cables of the tapedeck into the ‘‘LEFT”’ and “‘RIGHT’’ TAPE A RECjacks.DIN Connector\f your tape deck is equipped with a DIN connec-tor, connect it to the TAPE B REC/PLAY connectorwith the DIN connecting cord. The DIN connectionmakes both input and output connections with asingle cord, and the signal must be controlled withthe TAPE MONITOR switch on the front panel.Note —£ —@@-—@-@—_—______—__lf connections are made with a DIN connecting cord, the TAPE BPLAY and REC jacks should not be used.Second Tape DeckPlug the input and output cables from thesecond tape deck into the REC and PLAY jacksmarked TAPE B.KA-907{K) |
