43WIRELESS REMOTE CONTROL (TH-F6A ONLY)If you also have a KENWOOD multi-band mobiletransceiver, you can control one of its bands bysending DTMF tones from this portable transceiver.You will find this function useful when you want tocontrol your mobile transceiver from a locationoutside your vehicle.Note:uYou can remotely control only mobile transceivers that have boththe DTSS and Remote Control functions.uThe FCC rules permit you to send control codes only on the70 cm band.PREPARATIONLet us assume the 2 m band of the mobile transceiverwill be controlled.On the portable transceiver:1 Press [PTT]+[VFO]+[ ] (POWER).• The current secret access code numberappears. The default is 000.2 Press a numeric key (0 to 9) to enter a 3-digitsecret number.• You can also turn the Tuning control or press[ ]/ [ ] to select each digit. Press [ ] (or [ ])to move the cursor to the next (or previous)digit.3 When the cursor is at the right most position,press [ ] to complete the setting.4 Press [BAND] to select the 70 cm band.5 Turn the Tuning control to select the transmitfrequency.6 Turn a transceiver power OFF.7 Press [PTT]+[MR]+[ ] (POWER).• The transceiver enters Remote Control mode.“MOBILE CTRL” appears.• To exit Remote Control mode, repeat steps 6and 7.On the mobile transceiver:8 Program the DTSS code on the 70 cm band as thesecret number.• Select the same number as you selected instep 2.• For the programming method, refer to theinstruction manual of the mobile transceiver.9 Select the receive frequency on the 70 cm band.• Mate this frequency with the transmit frequencyon the portable transceiver.10 Make the transceiver enter Remote Control mode.• For the method, refer to the instruction manualof the mobile transceiver.CONTROL OPERATIONWhen in the Remote Control mode, the keys of thetransceiver will function as below.
