27 ENGLISHHoldersWARNING: Always support a long workpieceso it is level with the top surface of the turn basefor an accurate cut and to prevent dangerous lossof tool control. Proper workpiece support will helpavoid blade pinch and possible kickback which mayresult in serious personal injury.To hold long workpieces horizontally, holders are pro-vided on both sides of the tool. Loosen the screws andextend the holders to the appropriate length for holdingthe workpiece. Then tighten the screws.► Fig.46: 1. Holder 2. ScrewOPERATIONWARNING: Make sure the blade is not con-tacting the workpiece, etc. before the switchis turned on. Turning the tool on with the blade incontact with the workpiece may result in kickback andserious personal injury.WARNING: After a cutting operation, do notraise the blade until it has come to a completestop. The raising of a coasting blade may result inserious personal injury and damage to the workpiece.WARNING: Do not perform any adjustmentsuch as turning grip, knob, and levers on the toolwhile the blade is rotating. Adjustment while theblade is rotating may result in serious personal injury.NOTICE: Before use, be sure to unlock the stop-per pin and release the handle from the loweredposition.NOTICE: Do not apply excessive pressure on thehandle when cutting. Too much force may result inoverload of the motor and/or decreased cutting effi-ciency. Press down handle with only as much force asnecessary for smooth cutting and without significantdecrease in blade speed.NOTICE: Gently press down the handle to per-form the cut. If the handle is pressed down with forceor if lateral force is applied, the blade may vibrate andleave a mark (saw mark) in the workpiece and theprecision of the cut may be impaired.NOTICE: During a slide cut, gently push thecarriage toward the guide fence without stopping.If the carriage movement is stopped during the cut, amark will be left in the workpiece and the precision ofthe cut will be impaired.Press cuttingWARNING: Always lock the sliding movementof the carriage when performing a press cutting.Cutting without lock may cause possible kickbackwhich may result in serious personal injury.Workpieces up to 68 mm high and 160 mm wide can becut in the following manner.► Fig.47: 1. Stopper pin1. Push the carriage toward the guide fence until itstops and lock it with the stopper pin.2. Secure the workpiece with the proper type of vise.3. Switch on the tool without the blade making anycontact and wait until the blade attains full speed beforelowering.4. Gently lower the handle to the fully lowered posi-tion to cut the workpiece.5. When the cut is completed, switch off the tool andwait until the blade has come to a complete stopbefore returning the blade to its fully elevated position.Slide (push) cutting (cutting wideworkpieces)WARNING: Whenever performing a slide cut,first pull the carriage full towards you and pressthe handle all the way down, then push the car-riage toward the guide fence. Never start the cutwith the carriage not pulled fully toward you. Ifyou perform the slide cut without the carriage pulledfully toward you unexpected kickback may occur andserious personal injury may result.WARNING: Never attempt to perform a slidecut by pulling the carriage towards you. Pullingthe carriage towards you while cutting may causeunexpected kickback resulting in possible seriouspersonal injury.WARNING: Never perform the slide cut withthe handle locked in the lowered position.► Fig.48: 1. Stopper pin1. Unlock the stopper pin so that the carriage canslide freely.2. Secure the workpiece with the proper type of vise.3. Pull the carriage toward you fully.4. Switch on the tool without the blade making anycontact and wait until the blade attains full speed.5. Press the handle down and push the carriagetoward the guide fence and through the workpiece.6.
